Gabonese soccer mourns loss of striker Aaron Boupendza

The Gabonese soccer community is in shock following the death of international striker Aaron Boupendza, who fell from the 11th floor of a building in China on April 16.

Boupendza, 28, played for Zhejiang FC and had recently joined the team from Rapid Bucharest. He was a talented player who earned 35 caps for the Gabonese national team, scoring eight goals.

The Gabonese Football Federation expressed its condolences, and President-elect Brice Oligui Nguema paid tribute to Boupendza’s talent and contributions to Gabonese soccer. Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabon midfielder Mario Lemina also mourned his passing on social media.

Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Boupendza’s death.
