General Oligui Nguema’s Time

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Gabonese people wrote a new chapter in their history by electing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema as President of the Republic with a historic score of 90.35%, equating to 575,222 votes.

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the day after the election, the Minister of the Interior, Hermann Immongault, officially announced the provisional results of the presidential election. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema emerged victorious with a historic score, confirming his status as the overwhelming favorite in this unprecedented election.

This election held particular significance: it was meant to consolidate the achievements of the transition and lay the foundations for a new form of governance. Facing Oligui Nguema were seven other candidates who tried their luck: Alain Claude Bilie-By-Nze, Joseph Lapensée Essingone, Stéphane Germain Iloko, Alain Simplice Boungoueres, Zenaba Gninga Chaning, Thierry Yvon Michel N’Goma, and Axel Stophène Ibinga Ibinga. However, none posed a serious challenge to the favorite, whose campaign, driven by the slogan “We Build Together,” gained strong popular support.

Supported by the Rassemblement des Bâtisseurs (RdB), Oligui Nguema was able to capitalize on the achievements of the transition: the fight against corruption, institutional reforms, and improved governance. This movement, born from the regime change, succeeded in rallying a wide base and structuring an ambitious political project. It played a central role in citizen mobilization, particularly among youth and in rural areas.

To ensure transparency and fairness in the election, deep reforms were carried out: the adoption of a new Constitution, the creation of the Election and Referendum Control Authority (ACER), and the revision of the Electoral Code, to name a few. The Ministry of the Interior, in coordination with civil society, ensured the smooth organization of the election, which was widely praised for its regularity.

With this landslide victory, the Gabonese people send a strong message: they want to turn the page on the past, build a better future, and place their trust in a man who, for many, represents change and hope. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema now has seven years to transform this hope into reality and to permanently position Gabon in a dynamic of renewal and progress.
